Welcome to Classic & Gray! Hi Everyone! I’m Michele, a New York transplant living just outside of our nation’s capitol (Washington, D.C.) with my little family; Eddie (hubby) and Teddy (puppy).

Cliché as it seems, I’ve been drawn to fashion, beauty, and home decor since I was a little girl. My sister can attest that I was always rearranging my room, found my love for mascara at age 13, and looked forward to back-to-school clothes shopping more than I did going back to school. You’re probably asking yourself, why is this style blog different from every other style blog? (Because there are a lot, for real.)

In October of 2014, I became very, suddenly ill which has temporarily forced me to take a hiatus from my life (i.e. work, social events, getting dressed, etc.) Let me tell you– leave it to a debilitating illness to change the way you look at things! I went from not leaving the house without make-up and jewelry to not leaving the house, period. Within a matter of days it seemed that life as I knew it, along with all of my hobbies, were put on the back-burner so that I could focus on my health. Apparently there isn’t a magic cure for every medical condition (womp womp) so after 10 months of basically being house-bound in leggings and a t-shirt,  I have decided to get back to the old me, or should I say the new old me.

I am unfortunately no where near being back to my healthy self but have decided that I don’t need to look “sick” in the process. I am a firm believer that ‘if you look good, you feel good’, and even if you don’t physically feel better (if only lipstick cured fatigue!), you’re mentally more confident to tackle the day. In August of 2015, I decided to make the best of my current situation and create this blog, Classic & Gray, a positive space to document all of the things I love.

Classic & Gray will serve as a creative outlet for me to share my personal style through outfits, beauty tips, and home decor and will likely include a few ramblings bits about life in the process. (Side note: This is real life, friends. I won’t lie and say that I don’t usually occasionally put on an outfit, take a selfie, then get back into bed because I feel like garbage and have no where to go. But I’ve learned that that’s okay for right now and I hope that you can, too!)

As I’ve gotten older, my style has really evolved. I find myself being drawn to classic and timeless pieces in both my wardrobe and my home. I also have a serious love for neutrals that I can’t deny with gray being one of my favorite colors. As gray is a mixture of black and white, it is a transitional color which (wait for it…) also represents this period of time in my life! That was the inspiration behind the name of my blog, Classic & Gray. I hope that this online diary will serve as a representation of my personal style while I navigate through this pivotal period of my life and may even inspire you along the way. I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you and thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank you so much, Asa! I just started following you as well and am looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us! I can tell that we have a similar style and thank you so much for your support! Sometimes on IG we forget that we all actually write things and not just post pretty pictures! xo

You were certainly my daily dose of style inspo and no one hit those ER pop-up’s better than Ebony and Ivory 🙂 I miss sharing what deals were on BMore Betty or the Real Real and complaining about how much we missed New York.
