Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re all enjoying your week so far! Remember that sweet little cold I mentioned in my last post that so graciously entered my world on January 1? I wish I could say that I’m just being dramatic but you guys, today marks 13 days of being under the weather. 13 days. I was certain I’d reached my medical quota for the rest of my life 2015 but I guess 2016 was feeling a little behind out of the gate. I thought I was on the mend last week but my left eye was constantly tearing and becoming swollen. I had so much pressure in my tear duct on Sunday that I went to Urgent Care and lo and behold, my cold turned into a sinus infection that also spread to my eye. Major womp womp. I still can’t take any decongestants or cold medicine but am on antibiotics now so hopefully I’ll be feeling better soon!

My sweet friend Kristin from A Midwestern Mix posted this coat on Instagram a couple weeks ago and I knew it had to be mine. I’d been searching high and low for a blush-colored coat and it really was love at first sight! It didn’t hurt that her caption read that she scored it for almost 80% off (cue hysterics) and I had some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket. I quickly found it on the Banana Republic site but they were only having a 50% off sale online. What’s a crazed girl to do? Start calling stores individually, of course!

I called the Banana store in the mall by our apartment with no luck. I then called two locations in D.C. and no luck there, either. Then, in an act of fate from the shopping Gods above (okay, now I’m being dramatic), I accidentally re-called the first store. The manager told me that in the period of time (approximately 15 minutes) since my first call, someone had returned the exact coat I was looking for in a size Small! I had him put it on hold and rushed over to the mall. I tried her on (am I the only one who refers to pieces in a gender-specific way once they become a part of my wardrobe? Who needs kids!?) and the rest is history. My total was $74.99 before tax. Michele-1, Banana- 0.

I loved the idea of wearing this dressy coat in a casual and relaxed way so I threw on a turtleneck, a pair of black leggings, my favorite sneakers EVER (seriously like walking on air) and polished the look off with my new bag and sunnies. This black bag is the Jumbo Love style by Rebecca Minkoff. I already own the medium-sized Love bag in gray but was super excited once they came out with the larger size this past spring. I had been eyeing it for months and my hubby surprised me with it for Christmas! Being I’m always taking medication, I carry a water bottle with me at all times so I look for bags that can fit one…the gold-standard if you will. I love that this bag is still a small cross-body but can hold my necessities as well! Looks like 3 months worth of hints paid off 🙂 Good job, Eddie, good job.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this look and thanks for stopping by! Hopefully the next time you hear from me, it’ll be sans cough drops and tissues in hand. Wish me luck!

Thank you so much Janna, you’re the sweetest! I did feel like I got one over on Banana so it was only appropriate haha! The coat comes in Petite in store and they still had some a few days ago. You should call their customer service- they can pull one from a store and send it to you! The style is definitely a bit long but the petite was significantly shorter. Let me know if it works out! Thanks for stopping by and leaving me such encouraging words, as always! Xx
