Happy Thursday! I’m saying that as a greeting to you but also as a mantra to myself (positive thinking!) Today is the most dreary, rainy day, I have an incredibly annoying headache, a bad case of the chills, have been battling a slight case of insomnia for the past 10 days that’s really catching up with me, and I’m putting off several daunting albeit necessary chores. Did I mention that we’re leaving for New York on Saturday for 9 days and I haven’t packed a thing? Let me rephrase that- I haven’t actually placed anything into my suitcase yet but the heaping piles of clothing in my bedroom and closet are evidence that some type of progress has been made. You’ll be amazed at how that mess is going to fit neatly into one carry on and frankly, so will I….#sendhelp. Just kidding, I’m being a bit dramatic because I’ve actually become somewhat of a packing pro and will be sharing some tips in the near future!
If you read my recent post about my favorite fashion faux pas, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of wearing white after Labor Day. There is just something so feminine, clean, and fresh about a white ensemble in the wintertime…sort of like a snow princess (hello, inner 8 year old!) From stark white to ivory and every variation in between, I love winter whites! You can’t go wrong with this simple look. We all own white or lighter-hued pieces so mix what you’ve got! No need to be matchy-matchy and personally, I think that the more variation in color, the better! These cream-colored jeans from Target were the perfect, budget-friendly addition to my wardrobe. As soon as I saw them, I knew they’d look great with one of my favorite Loft sweaters. (Side note: I should open up a Loft fan club because the love is just undeniable and repetitive at this point. I haven’t been obsessed with something this badly since Edward Cullen circa 2009. [Twihards, ya feel me?]) Speaking of obsessions, I should also note that I have a thing for blanket scarves and anything that can be described as “cozy.” Le Petit Monkey on Etsy has the best blanket scarves. They’re hand-cut to perfection and are so
dare I say cozy soft. I’m especially loving the blue and green colors in this one!
It is very apropos that today’s post is about Winter Whites because I just received the loveliest “Friendsgiving” package from my style sista, Jen, over at Letters & Pearls in the mail today! Okay, I lied…I received it yesterday but forced myself to wait until today to open it. (Am I the only one who makes everyone else open up their Christmas gifts first so that I can build up the anticipatory excitement and open mine last? My inner 8 year old is here to stay.) I’ll be sharing what was inside on my insta later this evening (hint- it fits in perfectly with this post!) but in the mean time, you need to go check out Jen’s blog. She has a heart of gold and we became fast friends as soon as we connected. Jen has amazing style (and I don’t just say that because half of our closet is the same) and is full of inspiration.
It may be pouring and this headache is still kickin’ but maybe it’s not such a bad day, after all! HAPPY THURSDAY!
